Jack R. Johnson died on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the age of 87. Jack was born on May 3, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to Robert C. and Mildred M. (Bellis) Johnson. He spent most of his life in Portland and graduated from Washington High School. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Most of his life he worked in the printing trade, devoting 22 of those years to the Midway Printery in Long Beach prior to retirement. Jack was a past Master of Willamette Lodge #2, A F & A M Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite 32nd degree, Past President of Long Beach Lions Club, and Past Exhalted Ruler of Long Beach Washington Elk's Lodge #1937. He was also a dedicated member of the American Legion Post #12 in Astoria, Oregon, a member of the Peninsula Moose Lodge #2362 and Ocean Park Eagles #3602. In 1975 he moved from Portland to Long Beach. He owned the charter boat, "Vega" which chartered out of Frosty's Charters. He was fondly known as Frenchie to the charter industry. He enjoyed golfing and also took up kite flying for a while after he retired. On July 23, 1978 he married Marla J. Freese. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Marla, of Long Beach; daughter, Janet Tallman of Portland; three grandchildren, Krystle and husband Mark Willano, Steven and Brant; two great-grandchildren, Ayden Raine and Jaxon Stone Patrick Debiase; step-sister, Pat Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James. Remembrances suggested in his name to your favorite charity. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
