OCEAN PARK — Gene M. Klingler, 78, passed away on Oct. 12, 2018, in Ocean Park. Gene was born April 11, 1939, in Seattle. He was the first born to Clifton Marette Klingler and Beulah May Herting.

Gene had eight siblings, Don Klingler, Shirley Klingler, Carol Klingler, Beverly Klingler, Phillip Klingler, Gayel Klingler, Laurie Klingler and Valerie Klingler.

Gene married Judith Lee McDowell in 1960. Together they had three children, Kim Rene Klingler, Lisa Gene Klingler and Scott Marette Klingler. Gene married Anna Merly on Dec. 1, 2007.

Gene served four years in the United States Navy. He was always called by the sea and wilderness, and spent most of his adult life providing for his family, either on the sea or in the wilderness.

Gene leaves behind six grandchildren, who he loved so very much. They include Elizabeth Bonney, Olivia Bonney, Mykaela Klingler, Myles Klingler, Brielle Klingler and Bryn Klingler.

A memorial will be held at Peninsula Baptist Church, 23802 Pacific Way in Ocean Park, at 11 a.m. on Nov. 10
