Doris Arlene Berry was born February 1, 1935 in Walla Walla, Washington and died in the loving embrace of her son Craig Berry on August 7, 2024 at Golden Sands in Ocean Park, Washington.
Doris was born to Alma (Adler) and Delford Jolstead and was named after Alma’s sister. Delford passed when she was ten years old, and as a result she spent many happy summers with her sister Norma at their grandparent’s farm in Ritzville, Washington. Norma passed away in 2021 and Doris missed her tremendously.
While attending Washington State University she met Idaho Vandal Kay L. Berry. They married May 12, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran in Lewiston, Idaho. Kay and Doris would go on to a life in the United States Air Force, moving eleven times, before retiring to Lewiston in 1985. Once they settled, they settled. They developed cherished relationships with their Shiloh Court friends.
Doris was incredibly blessed in many ways – beauty, strength, intelligence, wisdom. She and Kay were extraordinary people and parents. Their children and grandchildren, as well as many others, were in-kind blessed through them. Doris was a fierce, no-nonsense lady - a force to be reckoned with.
She is survived by her two sons Brian (Denise) and Craig (Sheila), granddaughters Kaylan and Hannah, and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sister, first son Douglas George (2007) and husband Kay (2015).
We will be gathering for Doris at a time to be determined, with internments in Ritzville and Genesee, Idaho. As Mom would say, “We’ll think about that tomorrow.”
