Donald Eugene McGuire Jr., was reborn to eternal life in Portland on February 4, 2025 with his family at his side when he transitioned.
The son of Donald Eugene McGuire Sr. and Lillie Rea Meister, he was born at Madigan Hospital in Tacoma on June 26, 1961. Don grew up in Astoria where his childhood nurtured his love of the outdoors. He graduated from Astoria High School in 1980 and played football for the Fishermen.
His career was busy and varied; he was a boat captain, deckhand, and mechanic. Residing on the Peninsula he owned and operated The Corral Drive-in, farmed cranberries, was school custodian, and worked for Evergreen Septic Service.
Don’s hobbies included fishing and hunting, his motorcycles (he loved to tinker with anything mechanical), clamming, camping and traveling. Quality time with family events, especially hosting and entertaining numerous get-togethers, were especially enjoyed. Don retired from the Long Beach Volunteer Fire Department following 25 years of service.
Don married Tina Marie Coulston on June 25, 1994. They celebrated 30 years of marriage last June. Also surviving are his mother Lillie R McGuire; sisters Debbie Franklin and Julie Axon; sons Raymond Coulston (wife Ali), Nicholas Brown, and Cody Brown (wife Stephany); nephews Jeffrey McGuire, Christopher Olson and Eric Franklin; granddaughters Makenzee Graff, Jennifer Brown and Hazel Coulston. He was preceded in death by his father Donald E. McGuire Sr. During his life Don also enjoyed the companionship of numerous pets including Rebel, Chica and Gracie among others.
Celebration of his life and reception will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, 2:00 PM at Long Beach Elks. The family requests memorials in his name to Pacific County ABATE of which he was an active supporter.
