On December 17, 2024 Deborah Mariam Quimby a 60 year Peninsula resident passed peacefully at her husband’s side in Long Beach. Washington.
Born October 20. 1945 in Seattle, Washington, to Francis Harold Wallick and Janette (Wing) Wallick, Deborah graduated early from Sammish High School in 1963 in Kirkland, Washington. While attending Central Washington University, Deborah met her husband of 60 years Gail.
As a young girl, her favorite companions were her horse and cat. She loved dressing the cat in baby cloths and wheeling it around in a baby buggy. She had horses nearly all her life, raising Arabian show horses and gaming at the Rodeo Grounds.
Deborah raised show cats, some of which she showed to a Supreme Grand Champion. She sold her cats around the world including the U.S., Brazil, Canada, Poland, and Russia.
A lover of flowers, Deborah lined the front of her home with a container garden. She enjoyed shopping for new varieties for her garden.
A descendent of Revolutionary War veterans, Deborah was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she formed many wonderful friends. She was also the descendent of 14 straight Quaker ministers which led to her deep religious faith.
Deb always had a dream to visit China where her Grandmother had served as a missionary and her mother grew up. In 2014 on her fiftieth anniversary her dream came true when she and her husband traveled to China, visiting The Great Wall and cruising the Yangzi River.
Deborah started as a telephone operator, then worked in doctor’s and mental health offices. In 1995 she started selling real estate earning her managing broker’s license. She retired to enjoy her love of books, reading several per week.
Deborah is survived by her husband Gail Quimby, son Daniel Quimby, and grandson Nathaniel Quimby. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother David Wallick, and son David Quimby.
