Andrew Bighill, born January 19 1951 in Ilwaco, passed away June 27th 2023 in Portland at OHSU.
Andrew grew up in Naselle and graduated from Naselle High School. Andrew was married to Janine Peterson from Ilwaco, later they divorced. He is survived by his only son Adam Bighill, as well as his 1 sister Sue Tanioka, 4 brothers Mike, Joe, Richard, and Roger Bighill.
He obtained an Associate of Arts degree from Clatsop Community College, following it by spending the majority of his career working in hardwood lumber mills. Andrew was coined the best grader on the entire west coast.
Andrew’s greatest joys were his son, Adam Bighill, and grandchildren AJ, Leah, and Beau. Andrew dedicated his life to giving his son every opportunity he could to excel in sports, and was famous for making every single sporting event in which his son competed in. Adam is still playing professional football in Canada in the CFL, currently in his 13th season. Adam has played in the NFL and CFL, having won 3 Grey Cups, and 3 CFL Defensive MVP awards. It was common for people to stop Andrew to chat about the most recent game Adam had played in, and get updates on Adam’s success. Andrew had an email list of hundreds of people he maintained to make sure everyone was kept current on his sons endeavours. He was so proud of him. Andrew was known by many at The Elks and Eagles Clubs as he was a long standing member of both.
Andrew will be missed by many, as an amazing father, a proud grandfather, a loving brother, and an amazing friend.
