Ilwaco resident Abundia Cordova, 77, died December 15, 2006 in Long Beach. The daughter of Angel and Conception (Samora) Cordova, she was born July 11, 1929 in Bisbee, AZ. Shortly after her birth, the family returned to Mexico. Times were hard for the family and Abundia only attended school until the third grade before having to leave school and begin working to help support the family. Through the course of her life she raised four children before retiring and joining her daughter in Ilwaco in 1992. Her favorite things were sewing and gardening, as well as constantly rearranging her daughter Guadalupe's house. Abundia is survived by daughters Guadalupe Parsons of Ilwaco, WA and Maria Ruisa Vellasenor Cordova of Mexico; sons Jorge Teran Cordove of Ocean Park, WA and Hector Vellasenor Cordova of Mexico; brother Rusebio Cordova; sisters Modesta Cordova, Dominga Cordova and Natividad Cordova; ten Grandchildren and ten Great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Public viewing will be on this Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM at Penttila's Chapel in Long Beach. A Catholic rite funeral service will be held Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 10 AM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea. A reception with the family is to follow and thence we will proceed to Ilwaco Cemetery for burial.
