Ilwaco resident Pearl Deccio, 80, died peacefully July 16, 2007 at a local care facility. The daughter of Jesse and Goldridge (Johns) Trickle, she was born at home, on a houseboat on the Columbia River, at Ridgefield, Washington on April 9, 1927. She grew up in Ridgefield where he attended high school and was always proud to be a "Spudder". Members of Pearl's family had lived locally for many years and she was a frequent visitor. In 1965 she moved to Long Beach where she met and married Dale "Doc" Deccio. He died in 1993. Pearl was a wife, mother and homemaker. She and Mary Lou Mandel shared the same birth date and Pearl bartended for Mary Lou at her famous tavern in downtown Long Beach. Pearl also later worked at Jesse's Seafoods in Ilwaco. Her husband's family had operated the Seaview Riding Academy for many years and Pearl had ridden there in past years. After her marriage she and Doc operated that business as well. To know Pearl was to never forget her. She was literally the life of the party. Her sense of humor, love of people, her outreach to any and everyone were well known. She enjoyed county music, ceramics and playing rumming. To say that she was an avid bowler is an understatement. Always on the outlook for bargains, she loved trips to Dollar Stores. Trips to Cheryl and Jim's mountain cabin at Packwood were also always enjoyed and she always had time for a pet. Pearl's family were always number one with her and they will cherish memories of this truly unique lady. Pearl is survived by children Cheryl and Jim Pells of Long Beach, John and Melody Barnes of Raymond, WA, Kenneth Tallmon of Denver, CO, Bobbie and Jerry Bruner of Seaview, Clifford Tallmon of Estacada, OR and Carol and Dale Thompson of Beaverton, OR; grandchildren Melanie, John, Tamara, Rebecca, Josh, Melissa, Jennifer, Amanda, Michele, Jolene and DeWayne; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
