Allen Ellsworth

Allen E. Ellsworth, 79, of Ocean Park, WA died May 16, 2007 at a local care facility following a short illness. Born February 6, 1928 in Hooper, Co to Neal and Florence (Semler) Ellsworth, he was one of five children. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Hope, Arkansas. Allen attended school in Hope and after graduation from high school joined the Navy in 1946 attaining the rank of Seaman First Class and was stationed in Kwajalein before being honorably discharged in 1947. He then worked as a construction laborer his whole life until retirement. On November 25, 1982 he married Emily Meyers in Battle Ground, WA and they established their home there. In 1999 they moved to Ocean Park. He loved playing the harmonic and played in a country & western band at one point. He and Emily loved Rving, fishing and panning for gold. He was a member of the Ocean Park Eagles & Moose lodges. Allen is survived by his wife Emily of the family home; children Connie Shaffer of Vancouver, WA, Cliffton Ellsworth of Vancouver, WA, Gail York of Ocean Park, WA, Sharon Eggleston of Ridgefield, WA. Bette Sue Laughlin of Yacolt, WA, Debbie Stolk of Layafette, OR and Tommy J. Meyers of Seattle, WA; brothers Ralph Ellsworth of Iowa, Ward Ellsworth of Mt. Vernon, WA and Robert Ellsworth of Summer, WA; his twin sister Ellen Hague of Vancouver, WA and sister Viola Slocum of Detroit, MI. He was affectionately know as "Grandpa Slick" to his eighteen grandchildren, he also has fourteen great-grandchildren. He was proceed in death by daughter Kathy Ellsworth and son Ralph (Taco) Ellsworth. A graveside inurnment will take place on Sunday June 3, 2007 at 2 PM View Cemetery in View WA.
