OBITUARY OF AGNES MARY "Aggie" SAUERS Ocean Park resident Agnes M. "Aggie" Sauers, 79, died April 19, 2007 in Ilwaco. The daughter of Finnish immigrants Gabriel and Lyyli (Kuupuainen) she was born at home in Hockinson, Washington on August 14, 1927. Aggie grew up in Hockinson and graduated from Battle Ground High School where she was a cheerleader. Following high school Aggie moved to Southern California where she lived with family, attended business college and worked in an office. On a blind date she met Robert "Bob" Sauers and they were married December 10, 1955 in Long Beach, California. Bob made the US Navy his career and the couple first lived in Alameda, California. They returned to Long Beach, CA where they purchased their first home and later they resided in San Diego. Following Bob's retirement the couple moved to Ocean Park in 1970. There Aggie loved life at the beach and she enjoyed clamming, reading and the quiet life. Having converted to Catholicism while living in California, Aggie was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Seaview. Having no children of her own, Aggie was very close to her many nieces and nephews and her entire extended family. She and husband Bob took pride in their marriage of 51 years. Aggie had a positive outlook on life and was the one the family looked to for assistance and guidance. Besides her husband, Aggie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving sibling of the Sakrison family. Scriptural communion service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Seaview. A luncheon follows in the church hall. Private interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, WA. The casket will be open at the church prior to the mass.
