Lifelong Ilwaco, WA resident Clyde Arthur Howard, 84, died July 18, 2008 in Portland, OR. He was born May 17, 1924 to William and Dosie (Sargent) Howard. He grew up in Ilwaco and attended school there. He joined the Navy and served in Korea. Clyde was a commercial fisherman, fishing locally and in Alaska. He owned and operated Howard's Fish Market in Ilwaco at one time. He enjoyed gardening, catching and smoking fish, socializing with family and friends, beachcombing and clam digging. He gave back to the community, volunteering at PACE. Clyde is survived by daughter Diana Galbreath of Ilwaco, sons Frank Howard of Boston, MA and Jack Howard of Hermiston, OR; brothers Robert Howard of Astoria, OR and Roy Howard of Puyallup, WA; sister Doris Dean of Bellevue, WA; grandsons Don Graham, James Michael Parker, Jackson Howard; granddaughters Danie Parker, Zoe Howard, Sophie Howard and ZZ Howard; great-grandson Alexander Parker as well as several nieces and nephews. A son, Clyde Howard, Jr, preceded him in death. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
