Dale W. Kilponen, 59, a life long resident of the Salmon Creek area east of Naselle, died November 26, 2007 in Longview following a courageous battle with cancer. With his intimate knowledge of local forestry practices and area geography, Dale was offered a position as forest crew supervisor for the Department of Natural Resources at the camp in November of 1981. He reluctantly retired in January of this year. In past years Dale was a member of the Grays River Volunteer Fire Department.
