Donald L. Maurer, 76, of Ocean Park, WA died peacefully at hid home on December 4, 2007. Don was born November 15, 1931 in Taft, California, the son of George and Edith (Clark) Maurer. He along with his family and brother later moved to Garden Grove, CA where he gradated from high school. Don was drafted and served as a military policeman with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service he returned to his career with the Sante Fe Railroad in California. He was very proud of his railroad career and reluctantly retired in 1982. He was a longtime member of the Machinests union and continued serving as the local chairperson. Don and Georgina Bowker were married July 25, 1965. Don moved to the Peninsula 16 years ago where he enjoyed the quiet life at the beach. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed traveling and ocean cruises, listening to classical organ music, and most recently was active with the Peninsula Model Railroad group. There he shared his loved of railroading and eagerly assisted his fellow members in their projects. Don is survived by daughters Sheryl Presnell and Susie Cassell; grandchildren Christa, Edith and Matthew; and great-grandchild Paige. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgina who died in 2003 and a daughter Donna Stephens.
