Evelyn C. Greene, 93, died August 16, 2007 at her Klipsan Beach residence. The daughter of Edwin and Hulda (Andersson) Rohlinger, she was born in Evanston, Illinois on November 8, 1913. When she was two years old she came west with her parents to Kent, Washington. There her father operated a general store and Evelyn attended grade school. At age 14 her mother died and she moved to Seattle where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. Evelyn married Judd Greene on October 7, 1933 and this marriage was to last 62 years until Judd's death in 1995. Evelyn resided in Kent most of her adult years where she was a wife, mother and homemaker and Judd was employed as a sign painter. Having maintained a summer home in Nahcotta since 1940, she and Judd retired there in 1967. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, crocheting and playing pinochle. For a number of years she enjoyed snow birding to Desert Hot Springs, California. Evelyn took pride in her homemaking skills and was a devoted clam digger in past years. Survivors include her daughter Marie (Randy) Powell of Ilwaco; son John Greene of Auburn, WA; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her son Edwin Greene, brother Glenn Rohlinger, and sister Betty Hawley. Evelyn's family will gather privately to honor her life.
