Obituary of Elizabeth Jewell Elizabeth Jewell, 89, of Long Beach died May 22, 2008 at Ocean Beach Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 15, 1919 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska to William and Ione (Fletcher) Tripplet and she grew up in the area. Elizabeth married Joseph Cruise and together they moved to Oregon for work. He enlisted in the Army during WWII, and he later died for injuries received in combat. In 1975 she married Dick Jewell. Together they managed a Canon Beach, OR RV park and later the Safari Campground in Seaview, WA. Dick died in 1986 and Elizabeth continued to manage the campground until retirement in 1993. Elizabeth was a very independent lady, and lived at home until her death. She loved gardening and flowers. She was a member of the Elks Lodge in Long Beach. Her son, William and wife Debbie Cruise of Lake Oswego as well as numerous nieces and nephews survive her. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
