Fred Houston

June 6, 1976 — October 9, 2007

Fred R. Houston, 31, died October 9, 2007 at his Ocean Park residence. The son of Rickey and Wanda (Jenkins) Houston, he was born June 6, 1976 in Puyallup, Washington. As a youngster he lived in the Spanaway area and by the time he was in elementary school he had moved with his family to Ocean Park. Fred attended Ocean Park elementary and graduated from Ilwaco High School in 1995. Fred dealt and coped with a disabling disease all his life. When able he worked odd jobs in local businesses. Fred was a talented artist, a talent expressed in many mediums, and he enjoyed all types of music as well. Fred appreciated every day of his life and shared his love of life with others who found him an inspiration. He was always more concerned about the welfare of others more than himself. Fred lived his life to the fullest and his passing all too soon leaves a void in many. Fred is survived by his parents Rickey and Wanda Houston of Ocean Park; brothers Robert Byrd of Bellingham, WA and Rickey Houston Jr. of Vancouver, WA; sisters Tina Houston and Carmon Jenkins both of Ocean Park, Tara Ledbetter and Kim Trevino both of Long Beach, and Dana and husband James Billington of Haskell, TX; and other members of his extended family. Fred's family and friends will gather for a celebration of his life Friday, October 19, 2007, 1:00 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. A reception follows at the chapel. Fred's family wishes to acknowledge the many years of assistance and support generously given him by the Ladies of Mu Sigma. The guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
