Fred E. Lawrence, 74, died June 11, 2007 at his Seaview residence. Born August 16, 1932 in Aberdeen, Washington, he was the son of Eugene and Elsie (Erickson) Lawrence. Fred grew up in Hoquiam and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1950 where he played football, basketball and was a member of the golf team. Fred graduated from the University of Washington school of pharmacy in 1955. He served two years with the United States Army and in 1958 moved to the Long Beach Peninsula. Fred was a pharmacist at Ilwaco/Long beach Pharmacies until he and David Aase purchased the business in 1960. Fred continued as owner/operator until retirement in 1997. Fred was a member of Long Beach Elks and Long Beach Lions Club. He was also a member of the Astoria Golf and Country Club where he was a past member of the board of directors. Golf and gardening were favorite endeavors and he also enjoyed time with his family, grandchildren and following Ilwaco High School sports. He and Charlotte Walter where married September 10, 1955 in Hoquiam, Washington. She survives. Also surviving are daughter Linda and husband Jon Kaino of Ilwaco; son Jay and wife Kalli Lawrence of Port Townsend, WA; grandchildren Ryan Kaino, Kyle Kaino, Austen Lawrence, Brett Lawrence; great-granddaughter Akylah Kaino; and nieces and nephews Robin Ginty, Moira Bentley, Jim Lawrence, Judy Radka, Fred and Rick Blindheim. Fred's life will be celebrated by family and friends at the Astoria Golf and Country Club,33445 Beach Lane, Warrenton, Oregon on Friday, June 22, 2007, from 1 until 3 PM. Private family graveside service will be held at Ilwaco Cemetery.
