Ocean Park resident George G. Blakeslee, DMD, died November 16, 2007 in Seattle of complications following surgery. One of three children born to George and Jane (Soule) Blakeslee Sr., he was born in Portland, Oregon on August 29, 1943. He received his education in Portland where he graduated from U.S. Grant High School. He continued his education at Willamette University in Salem where he graduated in 1967. George obtained his degree in medical dentistry from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. George then served 2 years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. In 1971 he entered private practice, and throughout nearly 20 years of practicing dentistry in the Vancouver area, George was blessed with two sons and one daughter and in 1994, married Candace Carteen. In 2000, George was blessed with another son and for the past five years, had been rediscovering a new chapter in his life on the beautiful Washington coast. He and his wife established Peninsula Dental Clinic in Ocean Park and just this year, opened Design Dental in Ilwaco, and he took pride in being a part of the local medical community, providing excellent care to all he served. George had faith in God and a passion for the outdoors. He loved singing, especially in church, and as an Eagle Scout he deeply enjoyed nature: from fishing to crabbing, from golfing to camping. As a licensed pilot, he loved experiencing the beauties all around us, at all altitudes. George's love for the great outdoors also extended as a kindness to many around him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather (Grandpa Georgie) who will be greatly missed. An enthusiastic new member of the Peninsula Players Theatrical Group, George enjoyed expressing his warm sense of humor in their two most recent productions, "Rebecca" and "Arsenic & Old Lace." In addition to his wife Candace, he is also survived by children Craig (Rossy) Blakeslee of Harlingen, TX, Andrea (Chris) Fahr of Clarkston, MI, Donovan Blakeslee of Battle Ground, WA, and Keefer Blakeslee of Ocean Park; brother William C. (Sheila) Blakeslee of Sherwood, OR; five adoring grandchildren; a niece Monica Blakeslee and nephew Trent Blakeslee. We thank God for George Blakeslee. May his kind spirit live on forever in the memories of those who knew him, and loved him. Memorial service will be held Sunday, November 25, 2007, 1:30 PM at Ocean Park United Methodist Church.
