Gary Lee Jenkins

December 8, 1955 — November 7, 2007

Gary L. Jenkins, 51, died November 7, 2007 at his Nahcotta residence following a valiant battle with cancer. Born December 8, 1955 in Longview, he was the son of Fred and Helen (Kalahan) Jenkins. Gary's first years were spent in Napavine, Washington where he attended school. In 1965 he moved with his family to Ocean Park. Gary attended Ilwaco High School. Gary was a hard worker and his efforts were directed toward his career working in various aspects of the oystering business in Nahcotta. Following his father's death several years ago he was also his mother's caretaker until her death. Gary enjoyed reading, especially Louie L'Amour novels. He also enjoyed watching cooking shows on television, socializing with his many friends, and especially enjoyed long walks with his beloved canine companion Molly. Gary never married. Survivors include sisters Wanda Houston of Ocean Park, Mary Cothren of Ocean Park and Martha English of Eureka, CA; brothers Steve Jenkins of Vancouver, WA, Kenneth, Ed and Scott Jenkins of Ocean Park, and Stan Jenkins of Astoria; and other members of his extended family; and of course, his beloved puppy, Molly. Celebration of Gary's life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2007, 1:00 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long beach. A reception follows at the chapel.
