Gladys Kilian

Former Chinook resident Gladys A. Kilian, 93, died March 21, 2008 in a Longview care center. The daughter of Frank and Bertha (Dablo) Stenberg, she was born March 28, 1914 at home in Hamburg, North Dakota. Gladys graduated from high school and on March 15, 1941 married Oscar H. Kilian in Boise, Idaho. The couple later moved to Portland where Gladys worked for a number of years in the lab for Raven Dairy and Creamery. Following retirement she and Oscar moved to Chinook in 1960. Gladys enjoyed living in Chinook where she could partake in hunting, fishing, gardening and hiking. Gladys is survived by her sister Iris Brown of Chinook, brother Roger Stenberg of Olympia, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar in December of 2007. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 29, 2008, 2:00 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. A luncheon reception follows at the chapel. Private burial next to Oscar will be at Ilwaco Cemet
