Harry J. Snider, 80, of Ilwaco, WA died peacefully on August 7, 2007 at a local hospital. Harry was born June 19, 1927 in Ladysmith, BC to James R. & Jenny (Murphy) Sterling. His early life was spent in Vail, WA and he attended Tolt High School and spent a year at the University of Washington. Harry joined the Air Force in 1946 and served until his honorable discharge in 1949, attaining the rank of Sergeant. In 1948 he married Marie Bowen, and after the service they established their home in Vail. Later Harry and Marie moved to Rainer, WA were Harry worked as a logger for Weyerhaeuser, retiring in 1989 after forty years. In 1989 they moved to their home in Ilwaco. Harry was active in the Masons, Eagles and was a past member of the Shriner's. He also served a both President and Vice-president of the Safari Campground Association. He enjoyed fishing, golf and bingo. Harry is survived by his loving wife Marie of the family home; daughter Glenda Butts of Kansas City, MO; son Terry Snider of Tumwater, WA; brother William Snider of Rainer, WA; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three nieces and nephews.
