Jill Dougherty

April 17, 1938 — January 10, 2008

Jill Dougherty, 69, passed away January 10, 2008 in the comfort of her Klipsan Beach residence. Jill was the eldest of five children born to Hannah Mary and William Martin Quigley on April 17, 1938 in London, England. As a teenager going to school she apprenticed in a beauty salon until meeting her husband Frank Dougherty of the United States Air Force. They married February 21, 1956 and being in the military, moved around between England and the United States raising their three children. In 1974, following retirement, they moved to Redding, California where Jill worked in day care. In 1988 they made the Long Beach Peninsula their home. Jill was employed as a housekeeper at Chautauqua Lodge for a number of years until she was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1994. Jill enjoyed reading, baking, shopping, visiting Reno and most of all, spending time with her family. She was very creative and imaginative and loved to do arts and crafts. There was never a dull moment for any one around her. Everyone who knew her, loved her. Besides her husband Frank, Jill is survived by daughter Katrina Stotts, sons Frank Dougherty and Mark Dougherty; brother William Quigley; sister Katrina Mahoney; grandchildren Kaarina, Brandon, Sara, Briana, Kelsey, Megan, Cheyenne and Rhiannon; and great-grandchildren Blakeley, Summer and Aarin. Jill was loved dearly and will be deeply missed. At her request, there will be no service.
