Judy Fero

July 13, 1946 — December 23, 2007

Judy Faye Fero, 61, passed away December 23, 2007 at her home in Oysterville, WA surrounded by her husband and children She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Paul Fero, 66, her son Eric Fero, 36, and her daughter Jennifer, 33. Diagnosed with terminal Glio-blastoma brain cancer in April of 2006, Judy fought the odds, extending her quality of life three times what was expected. Her son Eric was her primary caregiver for the year and a half after her diagnosis. An accomplished homemaker, she is referred to by extended family as, "Momma Judy." After completing a year of Business College, she married Paul Fero at the age of nineteen. She gave birth to her son Eric at the age of twenty-five and she and her husband adopted their daughter Jennifer in 1975. The smell of warm cookies came from her kitchen as her children came home from the school where Judy frequently volunteered. Judy's identity was as a mother and she cared for and nourished body and soul for all who came her way, young or old. Her talents extended beyond motherhood, she was an artist, a baker, a naturist, gardener, and friend of the animals. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, she was the eldest of four children. She began her mothering with her three younger brothers, Brooke 57, Bruce 55, and the youngest Joe, now deceased. She is survived by her older brothers, Brooke Kimes of Seattle, Washington and Bruce Kimes of Portland, Oregon. Judy attended secondary school in Clackamas, Oregon. She resided with her husband and children in Milwaukie, Oregon for thirty-eight years, prior to retiring with her husband Paul in Ocean Park, Washington four years ago. Judy did not attend church in her later years, however, she was closer to her God than ever before. Wise, gentle, loving, and patient, she was loved by all who knew her. An intimate burial will take place in Portland, Oregon. A memorial service in Portland for friends and family is to be announced shortly. Guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
