Long Beach resident Juanita Winn, 90, died March 3, 2007 in Ilwaco. The daughter of David and Katherine (Ackerman) Pohl, she was delivered by a midwife in the small community of Crooked Stick, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her parents lived just over the border in North Dakota and that is where she lived until the family moved to College Place, Washington. There Juanita grew up and received her education. She and Eber Winn were married in 1935 and their first home was in Elgin, Oregon, later moving to Milton-Freewater, Oregon. In 1950 they moved to Milwaukie, Oregon and then to Gresham, Oregon. She resided there until five years ago when she moved to Long Beach to be near family. Juanita was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sandy, Oregon. She enjoyed time with her family. Flower gardening and especially loved her puppy "Pansy". Juanita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Yvonne and Donald Lawhead of Long Beach, WA; sister Ruth Durfer of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband. Private family service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements are by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
