Kermit J. Bishop, 74, passed away February 19, 2007 at his Ocean Park, Washington residence where he had been residing with his wife Annette. Death was due to prostate cancer. Kermit was born December 26, 1932 in Scobey, Montana to Grace and Raymond Bishop and moved to Tacoma, WA when he was very young. Kermit was the youngest of 9 children, 7 of whom have preceded him in death. Kermit graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma and then joined the US Navy where he served on the USS Brush, a destroyer, during the Korean War and Kermit was very proud of his military service. After leaving the Navy he went on to school and became a teacher. He taught for Tacoma Public Schools, retiring after 30 years. He then taught at Holy Rosary Catholic School in Tacoma for 7 years and has substituted up until his illness. He and Darcy McNeil were married in 1959 and were parents of Heather and Stephen. The couple later divorced. In 1985 he married Annette and she survives residing at the family residence. Surviving are daughter Heather Larsen of Lakewood, WA; son Stephen of Ohio; stepsons Jerry, Steve, Scott and Mike Schuchmann; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Denver Bishop of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 24, 2007, 11:00 AM at St. Mary Star of The Sea Catholic Church in Astoria, OR with a reception following. Memorial service will be Monday, February 26, 2007, 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Mountain View Cemetery, Tacoma. A reception follows.
