Larry Walsh

Lawrence Edward Walsh, 45, died August 25, 2007 at his Long Beach residence following a valiant battle with cancer. The son of James and Juanita (Garrett) Walsh, he was born December 16, 1961 in Seattle and his sister Loretta, who is two years older, completed the family. Larry grew up in nearby Bellevue where he also received his education. Larry joined the US Army in 1980 and served three years active duty wit the 15th Engineer Battalion. He also served the following three years with the Army Reserves. In 1982 he married Marie Decker and they had son James together. Later they divorced. Larry worked as a commercial truck driver until his illness. Two years ago he moved to Long Beach. In October of 2006 he married Shelly Gray. Larry was a member of Grace Family Fellowship in Seaview. He enjoyed cooking, playing cards and classic rock music. He was a student of military history, could fix literally anything, and was very proud of his military service. Larry is survived by his wife Shelly of Long Beach; son James Walsh of Long Beach; daughters Angela Gartner of Minnesota and Jacqueline Walsh of Montana; parents James and Juanita Walsh of Bellevue, WA; stepdaughters Emily and Elizabeth Ellars of Long Beach; sister Loretta (& Jerry) Lilly, and their daughters Julia and Jessica, of Issaquah, WA; two grandchildren; and others members of his extended family. Memorial service will be Saturday, September 1, 2007, 2 PM at Grace Family Fellowship in Seaview with a reception following.
