Lena A. "Lucky" Weseman, 87, died February 13, 2007 at her Long Beach residence. Born September 11, 1919 in Athabasca, Alberta, Canada, she was one of eight children born to Emil and Louise Laurin. At an early age she moved to Kelso, WA where she attended Catholic elementary school and graduated from Kelso High School. Like her brothers, Lucky went to work in logging operations in the Cowlitz county and surrounding area following high school. Later she lived in Tacoma and then in Portland where she worked in assembly for Tektronics. Twenty years ago she moved to Long Beach. Lucky was a lifelong member of the Catholic church and attended St. Mary's Parish in Seaview. She was a 50 year member of the Moose lodge in Tacoma and was also a member of Ocean Park Eagles and Long Beach Elks lodges. She was an avid fisherwoman who also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She was very much her own person. She and Charles Weseman were married in December 1998 and he survives, residing in the family home. Also surviving are daughter Annette Williams of Longview; brother Leo Laurin of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters Shawna Williams and Fawn Whitright; great-grandson Cody Craig and great-granddaughter Liand Whitright. She was preceded in death by sisters Delia, Rose, Florence and Evelyn, and brothers Joe and Ed. Memorial service will be Saturday, February 24, 2007, 11:00 AM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach. A reception follows at the chapel.
