Marshall A. Doupe', a resident of Sun City West, Arizona and formerly of Ilwaco, Washington, died August 9, 2007 in Sun City West. He was born November 15, 1920 in Ilwaco, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Rogers) Doupe'. He graduated from Ilwaco High School in 1939 and attended the University of Washington where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Marshall was drafted into the US Army in 1942 and spent a year and a half stationed in southern England as a member of the medical corps. Following his discharge in December of 1945 he returned to Ilwaco and became a partner in the family business, Doupe' Brothers Department Store. Marshall was an active member of Don R. Grable Post 48 American Legion in Ilwaco and the Ilwaco-Long Beach Kiwanis club. He was a member of Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church and served as church elder. He enjoyed singing in the church choir where he performed duets with his brother Charles. In 1974 he and his brother sold the store and Marshall retired to Arizona with his wife Pauline. In retirement Marshall continued singing in church choirs and enjoyed playing golf twice a week. He possessed a great sense of humor and was an excellent story teller. He never forgot his roots on the Peninsula and often returned for family events and the annual Ilwaco High School reunion. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Marshall is survived by his wife Pauline of Sun City West; son Dr. Michael Doupe' and wife Beth of Middleton, Massachusetts' daughter Margaret Doupe' Marmolejo and husband Raul of Los Angeles, CA; four grandchildren; sister Isabelle Garretson of Whidbey Island, WA; and other members of his extended family.
