Ocean Park resident Nancy G. Potts, 91, died July 19, 2007 in Long Beach following a short illness. The daughter of Ernest and Mabel (Preston) Speed, she was born April 26, 1916 in Vancouver, Washington. At an early age she moved with her family to the Peninsula where she attended Ilwaco High School. Nancy married Henry Flagar in 1933 and returned to her roots in rural Clark county, living in the Hockinson area. There she raised her family. She also worked candling eggs. During World War she worked in the Vancouver shipyards and later worked at the Crown Zellerbach mill in Camas. Thirty five years ago she returned to the Peninsula, settling in Ocean Park. There she relished the quite life at the coast and was able to enjoy her animals and crocheting. Nancy took great pride in her independence and was able to enjoy living on her own until just recently. Her first husband died earlier as did her second husband. She was married to Clifford "Slim" Potts for 16 years until his death in 1990. Surviving are daughters Henrietta Meredith of Camas, WA, Fern Ham of Des Moines, WA and Nancy Roylance of Ocean Park; son Walter Flagar of Orchards, WA; her brother Ronald Speed of Woodburn, WA; 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and members of her extended family. Also surviving is her special friend Kathy Williams. Brothers Edward and Lewis died earlier as did her daughter Gwendolyn Casper. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 28, 2007, 11:00 AM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach. Concluding graveside service follows at Peaceful Hill Cemetery, Naselle.
