Ruth M. Fields, 85, a resident of Bellevue, Washington, died March 29, 2007 in Issaquah, Washington. The daughter of Finnish immigrants Sanfred and Hanna (Savukoski) Wiitala, she was born February 20, 1922 in Naselle, WA. Her parents operated the Wiitala family dairy farm and Ruth attended Naselle elementary and graduated from Naselle High School. Ruth moved to Bellevue in 1953 and in 1955 purchased the residence where she resided until just recently. For 17 years she was housekeeping supervisor for Washington Plaza and Ben Franklin. Ruth enjoyed gardening, rock hunting, and camping at the coast with her husband. In addition she faithfully looked after her siblings who died earlier. Ruth married William A. Fields on July 9, 1944 and he died earlier. Surviving are son Mark E. Fields of Bellevue, WA; brother Ray Wiitala of Lake City, WA; grandchildren Harley, Jesse, Mathew and Michelle Fields; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Esther Nicholson, Katherine Wiitala and Mitzi Weible, and brothers Harold and Jans Wiitala. Graveside service will be Saturday, April 14, 2007, 3:00 PM at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle.
