Seaview resident Robert P. McNeil, 86, died August 13, 2007 in a local care center. Born January 3, 1921 in Moscow, Idaho, he was the son of William and Elda (Schuh) McNeil. He grew up in Bremerton, Washington on the shores of Kitsap Lake. Bob was a graduate of Bremerton High School. Following high school Bob worked at the Bremerton Naval Shipyards as an electrician. During World War II he proudly served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill in the South Pacific theatre. Following the war he returned to the Bremerton area where he began his career with American Mail Line Steamship Co. Following retirement he worked for Kenmore Air on Lake Union in Seattle. Eleven years ago he moved to Seaview. Bob was an active member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Columbia River Maritime Museum, Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society, the Do Nothing Club and St. Mary's Parish of Seaview. Bob had a life long love of the sea. Bob and Helen Jo Connolly were married August 16, 1947 and she survives. Also surviving are children Sheri (Fred) Andrews of Seattle, Rob (Arlene) McNeil of Seattle, Maureen McNeil (Paul Glovinsky) of New York City and K.C. McNeil (Laurie Stusser) of Seattle; brothers Bill McNeil of Lacey, WA and Manford McNeil of Bellevue, WA; grandchildren Elizabeth Andrews, Rachel Martin, Max Andrews, Meaghan McNeil, Isaac Glovinsky, Henry Glovinsky, Will Glovinsky, Harris and Coco McNeil. A Memorial Mass will take place Monday August 20, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Seaview, WA. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving and quality care Bob received from Lonnie and John at REAL Care. Those wishing may make memorials to any of the organizations Bob was affiliated with.
