Ocean Park resident Shirley Ann Chance, 73, died September 2, 2007 in Ilwaco. Born August 2, 1934 in Portland, Oregon, she was the daughter of Fred and Molly (Sell) Netzer. She grew up in Portland and graduated from Grant High School. Shirley worked in the office for Chrysler Motors in Portland for a number of years. Later she and her sister Kathy operated Snoop Sisters, a secretarial service. Her final employment was with Safeco Insurance in Lake Oswego. In 1992 Shirley moved to Ocean Park. Wanting to stay busy, she worked as a clerk at Marsh's Free Museum in downtown Long Beach until several years ago. She was a member of both Ocean Park Moose and Eagles lodges. Shirley enjoyed beachcombing and watching sunsets. In past years she also enjoyed gardening, trips to casinos, and was always on the lookout for a lucky pull-tab. She gave generously to a variety of local organizations. She and Donald Chance were married May 4, 1995 and he died in March of this year. Survivors include her daughter Amanda Miljus of Long Beach; sisters Dorothy Shoemaker of Paradise, CA and Kathy Walker also of California. Her bother Robert Netzer died earlier. At her request, no service will be held. Memorials may be made to the South Pacific County Humane Society, PO Box 101, Long Beach, WA 98631. Cremation arrangements are by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
