Viola B. Brewer, 80, of Long Beach, died July 17, 2007 in Long Beach. She was born November 6, 1926 on a farm in Bedford County, PA to Noah and Mary Frances (Moyer) Nazelrod and was one of six children. When Vi was nine years old the family moved to the Pacific Northwest. Vi graduated from Kalama High School and for many years lived in the Longview/Kelso area where she worked as a bookkeeper for a construction company. She also lived in Texas and California for a time before moving to the Long Beach Peninsula eighteen years ago. Vi had been a member of the Girls NW Rodeo Association and Women's Professional Barrel Racing Assoc in the 1950's and 60's She was very well known for picking really fast, quality horses. She loved hunting, fishing and camping. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall. Vi is survived by daughter Sandy Alves of Long Beach; sister Fawn Hornbacker of Long Beach; grandchildren Mindi Reitz of Naselle, WA, Ronnie Alves of Long Beach and Kurt Brewer of Albany, OR; great-grandchildren Nathan, Keith, Craig and Morgan Reitz of Naselle and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a member of her extended family Bonnie Traylor of Ceres, CA. Proceeding her in death a son, Steven Frank Brewer in 2002 as well as two brothers and two sisters. Her beloved dogs Gizzy and Teddy, as well as her entire family will miss her. At her request, no formal services are to be held. Committal will be at the family plot at Longview Memorial Park.
