October 13, 1930 — May 30, 2008

Virginia Frances Ohngren Scholl died on May 30, 2008, in Long Beach, Washington, surrounded and embraced by loved ones during her final days. "Ginger" was born on October 13, 1930, to Francis and Eleanor Hollins in Long Beach, CA. She was the youngest of four girls. She grew up and attended schools in Southern California, drawn to the beach and the sunshine. On 8/27/49, Ginger married Theodore Otto Ohngren. She was primarily a homemaker, successfully raising 3 children. In 1961, the family moved to Nampa, ID. Her spare time was spent assisting her husband in the raising and racing of horses. Ginger and Ted eventually relocated to Hermiston, OR, where they owned and operated Ohngren's Office Supply until Ted's death in June of 1977. In 1982, Ginger married Jerry Scholl in Vancouver, WA. Although they made their home in Pendleton, OR and Ocean Park, WA, she was drawn back to the California sunshine during the winter months from 1990 until her death. Ginger is survived by her husband, Jerry Scholl; two daughters, Debra Lowe & husband, Wayne, of Halfway, OR; Pamela VanHooser & husband, Robert, of Emmett, ID; one son, Otto Ohngren and wife, Beverly, of Newport, OR; two stepsons, John Scholl and wife, Joanne, and Keith Scholl, all of Portland, OR; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, two sisters and a sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and a stepson. A graveside service was held on Monday, June 2, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., at the Taylor-Ocean Park Cemetery.
