Long Beach resident Juanita M. Knopski, 95, died August 10, 2008 in a local care facility. The daughter of Orlo and Edith (Dennison) Moore, she was born in Portland, Oregon on December 5, 1912. Juanita grew up in the Orchards area of what was then rural Clark County, Washington. She attended and graduated from Fort Vancouver High School on Vancouver. Juanita worked on the construction of Bonneville Dam and during the Second World War worked in Portland-Vancouver area shipyards. Following her marriage to Anton Knopski she was a wife and mother, residing in Washougal. In 1968 she and Anton retired to the Peninsula. Anton died in 1990. Juanita was an avid gardener who took special pride in her flowers. She also enjoyed ceramics and enjoyed staying in touch with friends, neighbors and family. Juanita is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jack and Carole Knopski of Cathlamet, WA; grandson John and his wife Virginia Knopski of Ocean Park; and great-grandchildren Abby and Ethan Knopski.
