Shirley M. Grabenhorst, 84, of Naselle, WA died August 20, 2008 as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Naselle, WA. She was born July 7, 1924 in Tacoma, WA, one of three children to Hugh and Ann (Cameron) McGee. The family lived in Lewis County where Shirley attended school, graduating from Onalaska, WA High School. On September 12, 1943 she married Dick Grabenhorst in Tacoma. He was serving in the US Navy at the time. Following his service, Shirley, a talented musician, played piano for dance bands to help Dick through college. After college, Dick and Shirley moved to Naselle, and Shirley took on the task of homemaker and raising their four children. Shirley was very active at the Naselle Congregational Church and served as organist. She was also active with the Martha's Circle at the church, as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She had a deep, abiding love of her family and a passion for cooking and baking. Surviving are husband Dick of the family home; daughters Cheryl (Mike) McIntee of Sacramento, CA, Joan Johnson of Naselle and Melissa (Paul) Ralston of Vancouver, WA; son Scott (Tammy) Gravenhorst of Toutle, WA; brothers Richard McGee of Chehalis, WA and Alan McGee of Lake Havasu City, NV; eight Grandchildren, fifteen Great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Naselle Congregational Church on Parpala Road in Naselle, WA. A reception will follow at the chuch.
