Rusty Lindberg

Charles "Rusty" Lindberg, 62, of Naselle, WA, died suddenly August 20, 2008 in Naselle. He was born March 24, 1946 in Clatskanie, OR to Floyd and Jeannetta (Gardner) Lindberg. He grew up in Clatskanie and graduated from Clatskanie High School. Rusty was a career police officer, serving for 24 years with the St. Helens OR Police Department until retirement on 1994, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. After retirement he moved to the peninsula he worked as a deck hand on a charter boat and as a maintenance worker at Gold Sands Assisted Living. Rusty's passion was hunting. He held many world records for trophy animals; record size elk, antelope, caribou and deer. He was one of five official measurers of trophy animals for such groups as the Boone and Crockett (rifle), Pope and Young (archery), and Long Hunter's Society (muzzle-loaders). He also enjoyed fishing and golf. In 1994 he married Sandi Belveal. They later divorced, but remained close friends. He is survived by a brother Floyd M. Lindberg of Clatskanie, OR and a sister Marlene Westlind of Waldport, OR, a great aunt Joann Savage of Eugene, OR as well as three nephews and one niece. Also surviving is his adopted son, Todd M. Rosen and wife Erin and their three children Maddie, Phoebe and Justin, all of Bend, OR. Todd and Rusty hiked the mountains of the coast range often, in search of big Roosevelt Elk. A memorial service will be held September 13, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Murray Hill Cemetery in Clatskanie.
