Jeff Davis, 47, a resident of Grays River, Washington, died September 8, 2008 in Grays River. He was born November 11, 1960 in Bend, Oregon, the son of Robert and Lillian Davis. He grew up in Warrenton, Oregon, graduating with the class of 1979. One of his greatest achievements in high school was going to the Oregon state wrestling competition. In 1982 Jeff married Tara Scheuner and they later divorced. He later married Melissa Korte. Survivors include his father Robert Davis of Seaside, OR; sons Troy and Hayden Davis of Grays River and Justin Davis of North Pole, Alaska; daughters Nicole Adams of Aberdeen, WA and Kayla Simmons of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren Trinity and Thomas Simmons and Cora Davis all of Alaska; niece Octavia Burnett and nephew Scott Korte. Among the trades Jeff mastered were welder, pipe fitter and deckhand. He was proud of earning his 500 ton master's license which enabled him to own his own boats and operate others. For the past six years he was employed by Ferrell Gas in Long Beach. In addition to his life's work, Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors with his family and friends. Water was his home away from home. His idea of paradise was crabbing, gillnetting, wrestling crab pots or tackling salmon out of a gillnet. He traveled the waters from Alaska to the mouth of the Columbia River. Jeff will be truly missed by his family and friends who all enjoyed a good gut-wrenching laugh. Family and friends gathered September 13, 2008 in Ilwaco to celebrate his life. The family requests memorials to The Jeff Davis Memorial fund in care of Kayla Simmons at local branches of KeyBank.
