Ethel Gertrude Uhri

A resident of the Peninsula since 1985, Ethel G. Uhri, 87, died September 25, 2008 in Long Beach. The daughter of John and Annie (Miles) Hillman, she was born October 24, 1920 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. At an early age she moved with her family to Portland, Oregon and soon thereafter to Longview. She was a graduate of R.A. Long High School. In 1956 she married William Uhri. They lived in Longview until their move to Ocean Park. Her working career was as an office worker at Jack Field's physical therapy clinic and then at several other medical offices. She was a charter member of Longview Elks lodge. Ethel enjoyed gardening and took special pride in her flowers. She was an avid fisherwoman. Her family will remember her as a wonderful and devoted wife and mother. Retirement brought her to the Peninsula in 1985. Ethel is survived by sons Gary Rogers of Woodinville, WA, Ronald Rogers of Aberdeen, WA, and Jerry Uhri of Vader, WA; daughters Dona Davis of Longview, WA and Billie Uhri of Olympia, WA.; 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren Two brothers died earlier as did her husband William who passed in 2005. Cryptside service and mausoleum entombment was held September 30, 2008 at Green Hills Cemetery in Kelso, Washington. The guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
