Cindy Quaintance

Althea Margaret "Cindy" Quaintance, 69, of Ocean Park, WA died October 23, 2008 at her home. She was born June 10, 1939 to Oliver and Althea (Vessey) Garrett in Boston, MA. At a young age the family moved to Ramona, CA were Cindy attended school, graduating from Ramona High School. Moving to Washougal, WA she worked with disabled children and following that was employed with the Veterans Administration as a drug and alcohol counselor. In 1985 she married Ron Quaintance. They moved to the beach that year and Cindy began publishing the "Clamdigger" magazine. She later started the Old Hen Auction house and operated that until retiring. She truly loved the auction. Cindy was a member of the Ocean Park Eagles. She enjoyed bingo and gambling. She was always the center of attention. Cindy is survived by husband Ron of the family home. Also surviving are son Robert (Lena) Coggins of Bellevue, WA; daughter Tami (Bill) Herman of Long Beach, WA; step-daughter Sana Schmidt of Ocean Park; brothers William Garrett of La Grande, OR and Robert and Chester Garrett of Vancouver, WA; sister Vivian Garrett of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Cindy's life was held Saturday October 24, 2008 at the Ocean Park Eagles. Arrangements entrusted to Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
