Earl Jackson

Earl Grant Jackson, 90, of Long Beach, WA died November 16, 2008 in Long Beach. He was born August 14, 1918 in Sunol, Nebraska to Melvin and Ruth (Schlessman) Jackson, one of eleven children. At a young age the family moved to Raymond , WA and Earl graduated from Raymond High School. In 1937 he went to Washington DC as a member of the Eagle Scouts. In 1941 he married Ida Laura Cator and they established their first home on the River Road in Raymond. He began his working career as a building contractor in Raymond and in 1959 they moved to Medford, OR. Earl served as President of the Oregon Homebuilders Association during the 1960's. He moved to Long Beach in 1978. In 1982 he married Zoe Colson. She proceeded him in death on 2005. Earl was a member of the Masons, Shriners and Elks. He enjoyed fly fishing and deep sea fishing. He is survived by daughter Dyanne Rotta of Chewelah, WA and son Tom (Marilyn) Jackson of Sacramento, CA; sisters Eunice (Bob) Beck of Raymond, Irene(Walt) Smith of Raymond, Dolores Hansen of Winlock, WA, Alice (Ray) Thompkins of Salem, OR and brother Jerry (Wanda) Jackson of Long Beach; five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by brothers Nelson, Clyde and Clifford as well as two sisters Lena and Viola. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday November 22, 2008 at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, WA with Pastor Dean Mead officiating. The family has requested donation to either Harbors Home Health and Hospice or the Willapa Harbor Helping Hands. Arrangements by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
