Obituary of Margaret L. Fithen Margaret Louise Fithen, 71, of Long Beach, WA died November 18, 2008 in Long Beach. She was born January 27, 1937 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Charles and Lenora (Wells) Talkington. She grew up in the area, attending school in Clarksburg and Wheeling. In 1954 she married Daniel Fithen in WV. Work brought them to Boise, Idaho. They then moved to Olympia before moving to the Peninsula where Daniel began commercial fishing. In 1973, while clamming at on the beach, Daniel suffered a massive heart attack and died at the young age of 42. Margaret had to support three young sons, so she returned to Boise where she returned to school for advanced training. She began her own career working for the State Employment Office, a job that brought her back to the Peninsula. She worked here until her retirement. Margaret was an active member of the Chinook Lutheran Church and was a member of the choir. She also served on the Ilwaco Planning Commission. She enjoyed bowling, reading and playing the organ. She adored her grandchildren. Margaret is survived by son Jeff (Dorina) Fithen of Grays River, WA; brother Jack (Dot) Talkington of Baton Rouge, LA; sisters Mary (Harold) Payne of Sun City, AZ and Jeanie (Harold) Coursey of Ilwaco; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by two sons. A Memorial Service for Margaret will take place Tuesday November 25, 2008 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach with Pastor Cliff Weimer officiating.
