Norma Lee Hoglund

March 6, 1920 — December 13, 2008

Norma Lee Hoglund, 88, of Ilwaco, WA died December 13, 2008. She was born March 16, 1920 in Blythe, CA to Ben and Olive (Curtis) Selk. She lived in various California locations before moving to Salt Lake City, UT at age thirteen, where she lived for the next sixty-three years. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City. It was while she was in high school she met Rondo Hoglund. They were married in 1940. They were married for fifty-six years until his death in 1996. Shortly after marriage, Rondo entered the service and Norma worked in a munitions facility for the duration of the war. Following the war, Norma stayed home to raise their three children. With the children entering adulthood, Norma began a career she was most proud of, librarian at a nursing school. In 1996 Rondo and Norma moved to the Peninsula. Rondo passed away later that year. Norma had a fascination with ancient civilizations. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and had a love of reading. Animals enthralled her. First and foremost was her love of family. Norma is survived by daughter Kay Hall of Ilwaco; sons Scott Hoglund of Bellevue, WA and Steven Hoglund of Goleta, CA; a brother Ben Selk of California; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. No formal services are planned. A family gathering will take place at a later date. Arrangements by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach. Guestbook may be signed at www.penttilaschapel.com.
