Ocean Park resident Patricia F. Rutter, 68, died January 19, 2009 in a Long Beach care center. The daughter of Jack and Barbara (Nelson) Hinkley, she was born in Ogden, Utah on April 4, 1940. At an early age she moved with her parents to Hermiston, Oregon where she grew up and graduated from high school. Pat was married May 16, 1957 and became a devoted wife to Leo Rutter and mother to Monty Del, Stacie and Scott. When not busy raising her family, Pat worked as a bookkeeper and pilot car driver. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, beading and reading a good mystery novel. Her son Monty Del preceded her in death Pat lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for a number of years where she made many friends and met her life partner Ken Jackson. In 1989 they moved back to the "lower 48", residing in a number of locations in Oregon and Washington before finding the Peninsula. Following Ken's death in 2001 she relocated, only to return during the last few years of her life. Pat is survived by her daughter Stacie and husband Tom Dublin of North Pole, Alaska; son Scott Rutter also of North Pole; brothers Duane (Karyn) Hinkley of Oregon, David (Andrea) Hinkley of Washington and Darrel (Ellen) Hinkley of Utah; sisters Bonnie (Jim) Cantrell of Kansas and Betty Holly of Washington; grandchildren Thomas Dublin, Jr., Alex Dublin, Derrick Dublin, Scott Rutter Jr., Kevin Rutter, Thaddieus Rutter and David Rutter; great-granddaughters Sara, Jessica, Kiya, Mia, Ericka, Hazy and Aubrey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat's last few years were made enjoyable by her friends and also her beloved feline companions Suzie and Buttons. No service will be held.
