Pauline L. Eatton, 55, passed from this life peacefully on February 5, 2009 at her Long Beach residence. Pauline was born in Vallejo, California on September 23, 1953. She lived there for three years with her father James L. Hampton and mother Pearl Jewell Denton. The family moved to Denver, Colorado where she was joined by sisters Micaela Gray and Roberta Richey. Moving to Portland, Oregon, Pauline attended St. Peters Catholic school and graduated from David Douglas High School. Paulune met her husband and gave birth to a son Scott Alonzo. In 1992 she moved to the Peninsula where she met her partner Dominique. They met about a year after her arrival locally and have been in love ever since. From a young age Pauline was able to relate to animals. Most any place she went, animals, wild or tame, came up to her. She would laugh with them and pet them, and feed them. If anyone else attempted to join Pauline in the activity, the animal would leave. The story is told that her first real pet was a tarantula spider named "Spidy". Pauline was seldom without a animal in her life and her cat was with her at the end. Her favorite color was purple and she always loved watching "Looney Tunes" cartoons on TV. Family was very important to Pauline. She always stayed in contact with her siblings and enjoyed sharing pictures of family with them and displaying family pictures at her residence. Pauline loved her son very much, did the best a mother could do for him, and did her best to stay close to her parents whom she loved deeply. Pauline is survived by her son Scott Alonzo of Montana; father James L. Hampton of Seaview; partner Dominique; brothers Kevin Hampton and Jamie Hampton both of Long Beach and Larry Hampton of Ocean Park; sisters Micaela Gray of Seaview and Roberta Richey of Atlanta, Georgia; Granddaughter Micaela Alonzo; four nieces; two nephews and a great nephew. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at New Life Church, 405 1st Avenue in Ilwaco. The guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
