Frances B. Tribe, 96, a 4 year resident of Chinook, WA, died February 27, 2009 in Seaside, Oregon. The daughter of Earl and Beatrice (Mosley) Zumwalt, she was born on October 19, 1912 in Bickleton, Washington where her parents were wheat farmers. She attended local schools and graduated from Yakima High School where she participated in track events. Frances married Robert Tribe in Mabton, Washington on February 10, 1930. Following their marriage they settled on a farm. With a team of horses they moved to rural Clark county Washington. Frances was a wife and mother, helped Bob farm and they also operated Bob's Grocery. Frances was a member of the first licensed practical nursing class to graduate from Clark College in Vancouver. She was employed at Vancouver Memorial Hospital and later was a home care giver to numerous family and friends when needed. Following her husband's retirement she and Bob traveled in their RV. He died in 1992. As a resident of rural Clark county for 42 years Frances was a member of Manor Evangelical Church. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, quilting and being a foster parent. She was a member of the Clark County Sheriff Deputies Auxiliary, was a 4-H leader and was a member of the Washington State Grange, Good Sam Club and the LPN Association. After moving to Long Beach in 1994 to be near family Frances became a member of Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church of Seaview. There she played hand bells until she was 90, cared for the rose garden, served as a deacon, enjoyed Bible study, Sunday school and vacation Bible school. Frances believed in Sunday fried chicken and Sunday school. Frances is survived by her daughter Inez Greenfield of Chinook; son Glenn Tribe of Vancouver, WA; sister Maxine Olson of Lake Oswego, OR; grandchildren Mike and Jim Tribe, Dick and Robert Greenfield, Julie George and Cindy Olson; and 15 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband of 62 years, Frances was preceded in death by daughter Phyllis, infant son Robert, brother Deryl and sister Ruth. Memorial service will be held at the Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church in Seaview on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 3:00 PM with a reception following at the church.
