Carol A. Meader, 68, died at her Ilwaco, Washington residence on February 9, 2009. Born in Glendive, Montana on October 28, 1940 she was the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Remillard) Tallent. She grew up in Hamilton, Montana until the family moved to Burbank, Washington. There she graduated from Two Rivers High School. Having often visited the Peninsula on vacations for a number of years Carol moved to Ilwaco 6 years ago after spending most of her family and working years residing in the Tri-Cities, Washington area. She was employed in office work for a variety of businesses and after moving to Ilwaco had worked at Ocean Beach Hospital as a file clerk until just recently. Carol enjoyed watercolor painting, sewing and took great pride in her garden. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed family outings and events and especially enjoyed several trips to visit family in South Africa. Carol was married to Fred Palahniuk for 16 years and later was married to Dale Meader for 5 years. Survivors include daughters Shawn Hagstrom of Long Beach, WA and Heidi Weeden of Kennewick, WA; sons Charles Palahniuk of Portland, Oregon and Matthew Palahniuk of Durban, South Africa; brothers Charles Tallent of Vancouver, WA and John Tallent of Kennewick, WA; sisters Vicki Darnell of Vancouver, WA and Ruth Sousley of Colmesneil, Texas; and 6 grandchildren.
