Joan K. Pierro, 73, died April 27, 2009 at her Naselle, Washington residence. The daughter of Erwin and Connie (Reichert) Gebhardt, she was born in Los Angeles, California on August 28, 1935. Joan graduated from Hollywood High School, Pomona College and the University of Southern California with a degree in teaching. For a number of years she taught elementary school in Los Angeles before teaching at a small Lutheran school in Torrance, California. Following retirement Joan moved to Naselle. Joan believed in staying busy and was a real "people person". She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, quilting and she loved following mysteries on TV. After moving to Naselle she volunteered at the Heritage Museum in Ilwaco and she was a member of Naselle Lutheran Church. Joan is survived by her daughter Stacey Pierro of Naselle; son Scott Pierro of Vancouver, WA; sister Jeanie Sader of Boulder City, NV; grandson Alexander Pierro; nieces Kim, Connie and Kristine. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Pierro who died in 2003. Memorial service will be held at the Naselle Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 11 AM.
