Riley Robert Everett

April 13, 1922 — May 20, 2009

Riley R. Everett, 87, died at his Long beach residence on May 20, 2009. Born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 13, 1922, he was one of 4 sons born to and raised by John and Katherine (Ingenthorn) Everett. He grew up in Forsyth, Missouri where he received his education. Riley met Lou Jeffries at church and they were married October 28, 1941 in Ozark, Missouri. In 1943 they moved to the Long Beach Peninsula where Riley found work at the Cranguyma Farms. He then drove delivery truck for several years before starting his own plumbing company, Riley Everett Contracting. He and Lou later built and developed the Wildwood RV Park on Sandridge Road which they operated until retirement. Riley was a member of Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church and served on the Ilwaco Cemetery Board for a number of years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, staying active and he had a wicked sense of humor. He was a faithful and dedicated husband and father, a man straightforward and honest, and he expected the same from others. Besides his wife of 68 years, Riley is survived by sons Ron and wife Tsuruko Everett of Lompoc, CA, Ken Everett of Long Beach, WA and Jeff Everett of Sultan and Karen Conley of Arlington, WA; daughters Penny and husband Howard Carson of Kalama, WA and Roberta and husband Paul Yochim of Portland, OR; half-sister Julie Renek of Harrisonville, MO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. Concluding graveside service follows at Ilwaco Cemetery.
