Barbara Jane Niemi

Naselle resident Barbara J. Niemi, 88, died in Longview, Washington on May 27, 2009. Born in Aberdeen, Washington on January 14, 1921, she was the daughter of Charles and Anne (Strong) Lindberg. She was a high school graduate and had resided in Washington, Oregon and Alaska during her lifetime. She and Bill Niemi were married in Juneau, Alaska in 1939 and their married life spanned over 60 years until his death. They had enjoyed spending weekends and summers on the Peninsula for a number of years and retired to Ocean Park in 1970. Following Bill's death Barbara moved to Naselle. Barbara was an active member of Ocean Park Lutheran Church. Her overwhelming capacity to love and her devotion to her family during her life will be her enduring legacy. Survivors include her children, grand and great-grandchildren, members of her extended family, and many friends. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held from 3 until 5 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Valley Bible Church in Rosburg, Washington.
